Legenda mostu Dombrücke

The job of Wroclaw's lamplighter is not easy. Every evening he must walk through the streets of Ostrów Tumski and light up Aurera lighting mesh in each of the one hundred and seven lanterns. He often meets people, often talks, and even more often, he listens. One evening on the Tumski Bridge he passed near a girl and a boy who confessed their love to each other. Busy by themselves, they didn't pay attention to the lighthouse keeper (no comma here) doing his work who became the unwitting witness of this event.
The boy pledged that he would love her until death and would not look at any other girl. She promised to be faithful to him and wait for him until he comes back from the army. They locked up their words and sentiments in a padlock, which they hung on one of the two steel spans of the bridge right next to the gas lantern, below the figure of Saint Hedwig; then they threw the key into the Odra River.
They walked away smiling, happily holding hands, convinced that their love was permanent and safe.
Meanwhile, at the request of President Raphael Dudkiewicz during the evening session of  the Council of the City of Wrocław, a resolution was passed regarding  the protection of all one hundred and seventeen bridges located within the city, including twenty-seven footbridges.
City Council members, recognizing the endangerment, requested assistance from the Management of Roads and Bridges in Wroclaw (no comma here) to immediately remove all the padlocks illegally attached to the Wroclaw's bridges.
Who knows? Maybe everything would have gone completely different if the lovers had listened to what the lamplighter had to say. Maybe, they would have headed to the cathedral first to pray for love and then they would have stroked the head of the statuesque lion that guards the temple.
On the other hand, is the weight of feelings  so huge that it could threaten the steel structure of the bridge? Twenty-three of Wroclaw's councilors  voted yes; thirteen voted no, and one abstained from voting.
